Dynamic Stretches

This week Kuari pod has been learning about the human body and how the muscle and tendons work.we had to make a video about Dynamic Stretches and what muscle they use.

here’s mine enjoy .

If you stretch your arm all the way out and put your pointy finger on your four arm and then bring your arm back in you can feel the tendon working.

Adding Fractions

WALT: add fractions with different denominators.

  1. First, you need to convert one of the fractions into a fraction with the same denominator as the other fraction.e.g.  2/9 + 1/3 = ?    2. Now add them together by adding the top numbers (numerators). The denominators stay the same.

2/9 + 3/9 =

= 5/9

Lastly, simplify the fraction if you need to, or convert the improper fraction into a mixed numeral. In this example we don’t need to simplify.

Here is my one: 2/4 + 3/8 =  ?

Have you learnt about fractions this year?

Pie Graphs

This week we made a pie graph.

We looked at the most popular sport in our class.

My teacher’s hypothesis was that Rugby will be the most popular as we had games going on at the time plus the team just played a tournament.

Here are the steps:

  1. First we collect the data using a tally chart.
  2. Then we used calculators to find the percentages (e.g Rugby 4 out 21; 4/21 x 100).
  3. We then multiplied the percentage by 3.6 (as there is 360 degrees in a circle) to get the angle.
  4. The next step was to draw the angle on our circles (which we drew with a compass).
  5. We used protractors to create the angle.
  6. Once all the sports percentages were added we colour each sport in.

We then made keys. I found the math hard; what I found easy was drawing circle. Have you done a pie graphs?

Bastion point S.E.E.Y

We use the paragraph structure called S.E.E.Y to write factual paragraphs:

(S) A statement.

(E) Elaboration.

(E) Examples or further Elaboration.

(Y) Finish with ‘Your Opinion or feelings’.

Here is my writing on Bastion Point which we learnt about in class.

We were asked to focus on using correct punctuation and Wow Words!

I think I need to add in more  with my punctuation

(Have you done S.E.E.Y  paragraph ?)

(see you soon)

Calendar Art

The last couple of days my class has been working on  calendar art involving

  • Matariki
  • dye and paint
  • and research about waka and how to draw a whale

This is my calendar art.

What I found hard was the waka because it took along time for me to get it right.

The easy part of my calendar art was my colour because it took me like 30s to do it .

Have you done calendar art befor?

Do you know what calendar art is?

Sporty Paper Plane

Sporty Paper Plane

At the start of term three we made cardboard planes.

The first thing we did was trace the paper onto the cardboard.

The second thing I did was colour it in. I went with Korean wings with the Argentinian flag and Portugal flag on the side. It was not any ordinary paper plane, it was a sporty paper plane. Then I got all of the pieces together and glued it was the hardest part of the plane because you didn’t want to get glue on yourself then it was done. I was pleased with how my plane turned out with my colour  .

This is my plane I made:

Ka kite,

Information Report

For two weeks I have been  doing an information report, we had to use different types of punctuation .

Here is some of the criteria we had to use

SC:  Information Report

  • Has a Hook
  • An orientation
  • At least three Sub-topics with Sub-headings.
  • onclusionA C
  • Has correct basic punctuation (i.e. capital letters, question marks and full-stops).
  • Experimentation with complex punctuation (i.e. brackets and colons).
  • Wow words and your words!

The hardest put about it was doing the slide show because I had to find different type of photos and use different types of punctuation.

Have you done a  slide show about weather before?
